Welcome To Beachside Agility

 How it all began

Sarah & I had been thinking of starting up our own club for a while, but we kept thinking of any and all the pitfalls that usually arise.  Then we got a phone call from June Bass (from the BAA) saying that she had received a phone call from an Equestrian Centre which the owner wanted to make available for dog shows, etc, in Great Yarmouth.

We followed up the call and arranged a viewing which turned out to be at Humberstone Farm.  Four of us went over to meet Martin, (Sarah, Ray, Angela & myself).  He took us into The Arena, and you could hear our jaws hit the floor, we couldn’t believe our luck on being offered such a venue.  We decided there & then to take them up on their offer.

And so on Tuesday, September 16th 2008 Beachside Agility Club was born and we opened our doors for the first time.  It was a gamble taking on such a project and many questions gave us cause for concern.  However, we are glad to say it has turned into an overwhelming success. Our club nights are full to capacity and there is a full waiting list of Handlers & Dogs wanting to start as soon as possible.  In fact the demand is so high that in addition to our original Tuesday night we have now added Wednesday night also.

The ethos of Beachside is to have fun, both dogs and handlers alike while teaching high quality agility skills that are suitable for competition if the owner so desires.  It doesn’t matter if you or your dog make fools of yourselves, who cares?  It is all part of the fun that is Agility Training.  Our success is down to the members and instructors who make the club and from the results we seem to be getting it right at the moment.  We also help dogs who have behaviour problems in the ring.

Let’s hope that Beachside continues to be a successful club in the future.  We have the Winter League, Waxham Show in September.  We look forward to welcoming new members to our club. Remember it is all about dogs & owners having fun.
